Mmmmmuffins!

It is so nice to have daughters that can bake. These are from the MOMYS (Mothers of Many Young Siblings) Cookbook. This cookbook is great for large families! The recipes make A LOT. We had enough to share and take to a potluck. They are Berry Cream Muffins and they were yummy!

Berry Cream Muffins
4 c. flour all purpose
2 c. blueberries or raspberries(we used chopped strawberries and blueberries)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs -lightly beaten
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, blend together eggs, sour cream, oil and vanilla.
Stir in dry ingredients just until moistened . Gently fold in berries. Fill greased or papered muffin tins 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

Early Spring Decorating

I have been using the top of my piano as a spot for seasonal decorations. I wanted a new look for Spring -those snowmen had to go! I wanted to use things I already had to keep costs down. I love all the glassware that has the knobbed lids that I see in stores. I dug out an old covered plate that I had and found the taller glass jar on clearance. My dd painted the eggs (we still need to speckle them). I told dh that I needed some branches and that's what I got. I'll have to add some more soon. Happy Spring!

My Favorite Chair

This is my favorite piece of furniture in my home. It is a child's rocking chair that belonged to my Grandma. I was able to get it at the auction they had before both grandparents went into the nursing home. I didn't know the chair existed before this. You see, my Grandpa had a child's rocker that had been in the family for generations that I always loved. However, this chair was to be passed down to the first grandchild that would carry on the family name. Being a girl eliminated me from this. My uncle knew how much I liked Grandpa's chair and at the auction he pointed out that this had been Grandma's chair. I was able to get it for a low price! The seat was in poor condition but a friend replaced it and refinished it. The best part about all this is that I found a picture of my Dad sitting in this very chair when he was a baby. My Dad passed away when I was five and my Grandma passed away in 2007. They were both very special to me. I just recently hung the picture above the chair. They are in my foyer and I am loving seeing them together.

"Joy"

"These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full." John15:11

I found this rock at my local thrift store that also sells Ten Thousand Villages items. http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/home.php

I am thinking that the next time I visit I will have to pick up "Love" and "Wisdom".

Upward Basketball

The younger boys played Upward Basketball this year. It is a Christian based program with devotions and memory verses. It was a good experience. They are going to miss it and so will I when they have excessive energy to use up. They received cool backpacks as a gifts this year.

A New Pinafore in the Shop

Visit the shop.

Wrestler?

The boys stuffed pillows in their shirts the other day and had the most fun bouncing off each other! Cheap fun on a cold day.
